Winter is the time to reflect within ourselves:
Let's face it, winter in the midwest can be gloomy! Oh, yes it is lovely to look out your window at the white blanket of snow or ice on the ground, but it is hard to get around in it. I know there are those that love skiing or snowmobiling and more power to them! But we still have to shovel our driveways so they can drive to work or school. Because of this, it seems that everyone is running late, our tempers are in high gear and patience is so low you wonder why eveyone is so crabby, including yourself.
That is why I think this is the most important time to sit back and reflect on our lives. Have we been living the way we should be? For example, when was the last time you did something for yourself - like have a massage, read a good book, watch a good movie? Did you do this without feeling guilty? I mean were you thinking something like, "I should be doing laundry" or "I need to go to work and get caught up on paperwork" or "I should be cleaning the bathroom" or "I should be doing something else...". See what I mean?
I challenge each and everyone of you to take a REAL break from every day life. Kick up your feet, take in a movie, a good book, get away and even stay at your local hotel so you don't have to think about the loose ends at home or the office. The real challenge is going to be able to do this activity without thinking about or feeling guilty about enjoying yourself. That is why checking in at our local bed and breakfast or hotel would help you in getting your mind off of other things. Then you can relax, have some peace of mind and re-group yourself. Go ahead, give it a try! If you do this, your stress is sure to be relieved in some fashion.
Also, our comminuty has a lot of different events and activities to keep you and your whole family busy (just check out our ‘Community Bulletin Board’ page). So whether you decide to endulge in day at the spa or a weekend skiing, just sit back and enjoy this time of year with your loved ones.
