Meet Our Writers!  

Allison Bates writes most of our movie reviews along with stories for our website.  She is a pop culture obsessed young lady who is a senior at Monmouth College. Her parents, siblings, and all those who claim to be fond of her ought to be pitied, as she talks to them constantly about absolutely meaningless subjects with no attention paid to if they’re listening to her or not. In fact, if it were not for her aspirations to become a writer and the work that she puts into it, it’s quite likely that the brain cells of everyone in her vicinity would be permanently decommissioned as a result of her incessant chattering. She feels quite lucky that writing can be a suitable outlet for all of the entirely pointless thoughts floating about her mind that does no harm to the people who surround her.
Allison also enjoys working on cross-stitch.  She has a Deviant Art page at http://missy-tannenbaum.deviantart.com/ which is a shrine to all things pixelated and girly. Her cross-stitch tributes to the feminine side of geekiness are done with a great attention to detail, and it's great to see so many of these girl sprites in one place.

IShopGalesburg.com On-Line Magazine goes to Semi-Finals at Innovate Illinois in statewide competition

Update on 09/28/08:
     
Galesburg, Il, September 28, 2008:  IShopGalesburg.com was privileged to be a semi-finalist in the Innovate Illinois competition, a highly selective entrepreneurial contest where innovative companies have the opportunity to compete for a $40,000 cash prize from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The competition took place at the University of Chicago’s Gleacher Center on September 26th.  Although they did not qualify for the finals of the competition, they still had an amazing experience and made some great new contacts.  Being able to exchange ideas and inspirations with other innovative thinkers has helped them tremendously for future plans of IShopGalesburg.com.  They went up against some very tough competition in Chicago but one of their competitors asked them to join their affiliate program, another one said to call them for brain storming and another one gave them some tips on search engine marketing.  They take away knowledge and business contacts that might otherwise not have taken place. 
We will be adding more new pages and updating our current pages because of our new founded knowledge acquired from our experience in Chicago.  We thank you for your support and keep checking back for updates.
